Contributions vs interest-only phase
Years 1–15

Contribution Phase

You make the selected annual contribution each year. Deposits accumulate and the balance earns projected interest throughout this 15-year period.

Annual Contribution Total Deposits
Years 16–21

Interest-Only Phase

No new contributions are made. The accumulated balance continues to earn projected interest until the account matures at 21 years.

Year-Wise SSY Growth

Annual contribution, cumulative total deposits, estimated interest earned each year and estimated closing balance for all 21 years. Contributions stop after Year 15, so total deposits stop increasing while the balance keeps growing through Year 21. Uses the same calculation engine as the main calculator.

SSY Maturity Summary

Deposits + Interest = Maturity

Calculation Summary

Contribution period: 15 years from account opening. You make the selected annual contribution consistently during this 15-year contribution period.

Maturity: 21 years from account opening. The account matures 21 years after the account opening date.

After the 15-year contribution period, no further deposits are assumed, but the accumulated balance continues to earn interest until maturity under the calculator's stated projection assumptions.

SSY projection model:
Monthly interest rate = annual rate ÷ 12
For each of the 252 months (21 years): add the scheduled deposit (during years 1–15 only), then grow the balance by (1 + monthly rate).
Total Deposits = sum of all deposits made over the 15-year contribution period.
Estimated Interest = Estimated Maturity − Total Deposits.
Account Maturity Date = account opening date + 21 years (leap-year safe).

About the SSY Calculator

The SUPRAVAT.IN SSY Calculator helps you estimate how much a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account could grow over its 21-year maturity period. Enter the girl child's age, the account opening date, your annual contribution and the interest rate, and it instantly shows the estimated maturity amount, total deposits and interest earned — all formatted in Indian ₹.

What Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a Government of India small savings scheme designed to encourage long-term savings for a girl child's education and marriage. An account is opened in the name of an eligible girl child by her parent or legal guardian. Deposits are made for 15 years from the date of opening, and the account matures 21 years from the opening date. SSY currently offers a Government-notified interest rate and qualifies for tax benefits under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.

Who can open an SSY account

A Sukanya Samriddhi account can be opened by the natural or legal guardian of a girl child who has not attained the age of 10 years at the time of account opening. This calculator applies the same eligibility assumption: it accepts ages 0–9 and rejects an age of 10 years or above.

Minimum and maximum annual deposits

The minimum deposit per financial year is ₹250 and the maximum is ₹1,50,000. This calculator validates every contribution against these scheme limits and rejects amounts below ₹250 or above ₹1,50,000. In monthly mode, the yearly total (monthly contribution × 12) must also stay within ₹250–₹1,50,000.

The 15-year contribution period

Deposits are made for 15 years from the account opening date. This calculator assumes you make the selected contribution consistently during each of these 15 years. After the 15-year contribution period ends, no further deposits are required.

The 21-year maturity period

The account matures 21 years from the date of opening. This means that after the 15-year contribution period, the accumulated balance continues to earn interest for roughly 6 more years until maturity. This calculator models deposits for years 1–15 and continues compounding interest through year 21, so the projection does not stop after year 15.

How SSY interest is calculated

Under the scheme, SSY interest is calculated monthly based on the lowest balance between the close of the 5th day and the end of the month, and is credited at the end of the financial year. Because the actual interest depends on deposit timing within each month and the official monthly lowest-balance rule, this calculator uses a deterministic projection instead of reproducing that rule exactly. It compounds the entered annual rate monthly (annual rate ÷ 12) and assumes deposits are made at the beginning of each contribution period.

Why actual maturity can differ

Actual SSY maturity can differ from this estimate for several reasons: Government-notified interest rates can change over the 21-year period; deposit timing within each month affects interest under the scheme's monthly lowest-balance rule; and actual account records are maintained by the authorised bank or post office. This calculator provides an estimated calculation based on the inputs and assumptions shown on the page — it is not the same as your actual account balance.

Why an SSY calculator is useful

An SSY calculator is useful for estimating long-term savings for a girl child's education and marriage. By adjusting the annual contribution and interest rate, you can see how different savings levels could grow over the 21-year maturity period and plan your contributions accordingly. Used as an SSY maturity calculator, it shows the estimated maturity amount; used as an SSY interest calculator, it separates the estimated interest earned from your total deposits so you can see how much of the maturity value comes from growth.

Estimated calculation vs actual account balance:
This tool produces an estimated calculation using a transparent, deterministic projection. Your actual account balance is maintained by the authorised bank or post office and depends on the notified interest rate at each point in time, the exact dates of your deposits, the scheme's monthly lowest-balance interest rule, and any applicable rules on withdrawals, premature closure or taxes. Always confirm the actual maturity value with your bank or post office.
