The Percentage Calculator is a free online tool that helps you work with percentages in seconds. Whether you are figuring out a discount, measuring growth, or checking how much one value is of another, you can calculate X% of a number, find what percentage one number is of another, measure a percentage increase or decrease, or calculate a discount with optional GST — all with live results in Indian ₹ formatting.
Result = X% × Y ÷ 100 = X × Y ÷ 100
For example, 25% of 200 = 25 × 200 ÷ 100 = 50.
Percentage = X ÷ Y × 100
If the whole (Y) is 0 the result is undefined and the calculator handles it safely. For example, 50 of 200 = 50 ÷ 200 × 100 = 25%.
Change % = (New − Original) ÷ Original × 100
A positive value is an increase and a negative value is a decrease. If the original is 0 the result is undefined and handled safely. For example, 100 → 120 = (120 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100 = 20% increase.
Savings = Price × Discount % ÷ 100
Taxable amount = Price − Savings
GST = Taxable amount × GST rate ÷ 100
Total = Taxable amount + GST
For CGST+SGST each component is half of GST; for IGST the full GST is a single component. The discount is always applied before GST.
Percentages are everywhere — a 25% off sale, a 20% hike in salary, a 15% tip, or 18% GST. A few quick examples: 25% of 200 is 50; 15% of 1,000 is 150; 50 out of 200 is 25%; going from 100 to 120 is a 20% increase; going from 200 to 150 is a 25% decrease; and ₹1,200 at a 25% discount saves ₹300 for a final price of ₹900.
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 25% of 200 is 25 × 200 ÷ 100 = 50.
Divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. For example, 50 out of 200 is 50 ÷ 200 × 100 = 25%. If the whole is 0 the percentage is undefined.
Subtract the original from the new value, divide by the original, and multiply by 100. A positive result is an increase and a negative result is a decrease. For example, going from 100 to 120 is a 20% increase, and going from 200 to 150 is a 25% decrease.
In this calculator the discount is always applied before GST. The GST is calculated on the price after the discount has been deducted, which is the standard Indian GST treatment for discounts given at the time of supply.
